Fire hoses typically have a fixed service life, generally considered to be five years. It is widely held that this five-year lifespan applies regardless of whether the hose has actually been used; replacement is recommended once the five-year mark is reached.
This practice ensures the safety and reliability of the equipment. Even if a fire hose has never been used, replacement is advised upon reaching the five-year limit, as hoses that have seen service are often nearing the end of their usable life and can no longer guarantee proper performance during an emergency.
